Cimets are the baguettes of Turkey is seems. Every corner sells them, and everyone eats them. They are round, bagel-like dough creations, covered with sesame seeds. Slight sweet, yet savory enough to be a breakfast, lunch or snack treat. And at 1 Turkish Lire each, a steal. They are sold from coffee stalls all over and also by wandering carts on the streets.
While on our food tour we were walking up the quiet street and we came across a vendor surrounded by several kids. I’m not sure if he sold them or out of kindness gave a few away, but the kids grabbed some and then took off to continue playing. I managed to get a photo of the last kid, a Cimet in each hand, taking off to join his friends.
